The Lancaster Moravian Center will host a community discussion this week on recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

The free, all-ages event, titled “Healing Beyond Boundaries” will start at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the center’s 2nd floor location at 227 N. Queen St., Lancaster. Doors open an hour beforehand, at 5 p.m.

It will feature a panel of speakers who will explore the recovery process and the importance of building a supportive, inclusive community.

“Attendees will have the opportunity to hear personal stories of resilience, learn about resources available in Lancaster County, and explore how individuals and organizations can come together to make a difference in the lives of those affected by addiction,” organizers said.

Panelists include:

  • Judge David Ashworth: President judge of Lancaster County, on recovery and the justice system
  • Alyssa Hess: Recovery advocate with Steps to Recovery (STR) Behavioral Health, on her own recovery journey
  • The Rev. Mandy Mastros: Pastor, Lancaster Moravian Center, on faith and holistic support in recovery
  • Nicole Schwartz: Psychiatric nurse practitioner, The Ranch Pennsylvania, on mental health and recovery

Hosting the evening is Christopher Dreisbach, founder of Blueprints for Addiction Recovery. The event is sponsored by Silvermist Recovery Center, a treatment facility based in Western Pennsylvania.

“Recovery is not just about overcoming substance use; it’s about building a life filled with purpose, connection, and hope,” Dreisbach said. “This event is designed to inspire, educate, and unite our community as we celebrate the power of diversity and resilience.”
