Lancaster Chamber is hosting this year’s State of the County. The event will cover key issues that play a role in the economic and community landscape of Lancaster County, such as housing, innovation in economic growth and education.

To lead the discussions, Lancaster Chamber has invited an expert in each respective field to provide a presentation, followed by a response panel.

Ryo Tashiro, outreach economist and advisor for Federal Reserve Bank Philadelphia, will be covering the housing portion of the State of the County. Tashiro has traveled across the Third District to speak about the economic outlook and functions of the Federal Reserve.

Leading the innovation portion of the discussion will be Abby Smith. As President and CEO of Team Pennsylvania, Smith’s work focuses on building strategic partnerships between public and private sectors to address issues.

The education portion will address the issues between education and the workforce, and what future trends mean for educators and employers. Associate Program Director for Educational Partnerships and Executive Director of the Lancaster County STEM Alliance, Lauren Miller, will be presenting on that portion.

A response panel, made up of leaders from a variety of industries, will follow the presentations. The hope is that the panelists discussion will leave everyone with strategies for businesses, policymakers and the community. The panelists include Jill Hackman, career coordinator at Garden Spot High School in ELANCO School District, Alex King, real estate agent at Puffer Morris, and Rich Willet, president of Flooring and Industrial at Ecore International.

The State of the County will take place Friday, April 4, 2025, at Saint Joseph’s University from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Registration for the event can be found at: Lancaster Chamber Website
