The Lancaster County Planning Commission is inviting people interested in the future of the area around the Lancaster Amtrak train station to take part in a "public visioning event" on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

The format is an open house, with anyone welcome to drop in between 4 and 7 p.m. Planning commission staff will be on hand for discussion and to answer questions. The location is the Auto Traders International building at 1007 N. Prince St., near the train station. (See map below.)

Feedback will be incorporated into a "placemaking strategy" for the area around the train station, which is considered a prime candidate for redevelopment and revitalization.

The county's comprehensive plan, Places2040, identified the Lancaster, Mount Joy and Elizabethtown Amtrak stations as key redevelopment opportunities, where transit-oriented development "could transform the neighborhoods around these stations into much more dynamic places."
